Better teachers matter.

Better teachers make children learn faster, especially disadvantaged children. The evidence for this is overwhelming.

At Community Schools Trust, we have defined some key methods to create better teachers.

We define what effective teaching looks like in our Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) lesson framework; an evidence informed compilation of best teaching practices. From this framework, we have identified a small number of plays - a sequence of behaviours in the classroom - that will improve our teaching.

Our plays show us how to get better. There are two sections:

The Fundamental plays: these form the foundations of good lesson routines and learning habits. Learn these first.
